I think this is going to hit really big in 2011.

Lindsey Adelman launched her lighting company in 2006, and creates these beautiful armature chandeliers. With custom brass fittings, and hand blown glass shades, each piece the studio produces in completely unique.

While the standard offerings price into the ten's of thousands, Lindsey also offers a section on the website with DIY tutorials for several different designs, giving everyone the opportunity to own a Lindsey Adelman piece.

Recently, I was introduced to a great lighting company called Niche Modern. This company specializes in modern hand blown glass fixtures, in a variety of unique shapes and colours. Here's a little quote from their website that perfectly sums up what their brand represents:

"We believe that good, solid design is found in the ironic joining together of contrasting elements, simple lines and luscious colors. You can see the exchange of light and darkness, strength and delicacy, edge and elegance at play in all of our products."

They offer a variety of single pendant styles and also feature chandeliers, and pendant clusters. See more of their product line here.

One of my favourite lighting suppliers is Schoolhouse Electric Co who specialize in vintage style fixtures. The company uses a series of restored moulds, and creates every piece through a hand crafted process that closely replicates the way these fixtures would have originally been produced. They are also well constructed, using heavy gauge solid brass which is finished with a hand applied patina, and all the shades are individually handblown. And in addition to being beautiful and high quality, they are incredibly well priced.

Recently they launched a collection that they collaborated on with one of my favourite artists, Yellena James, on their first artist series collection. The fixtures all feature beautiful glass shades with Yellena's drawings.

Today, an email hit my inbox announcing their new vintage brass finish, as if their line wasn't lovely enough.

I first heard about Schoolhouse from Anna at Door 16, who used their fixtures in her bathroom and bedroom, where they look just lovely in her Newburgh home.
