Eames Lounge and Ottoman

Herman Miller, the manufacturer of many iconic designs, such as the work of Charles and Ray Eames and Isamu Noguchi, has introduced some fantastic new finishes to freshen up these classics. The new finishes include white ash woods, pearl leather upholstery and powdercoat metal finishes.

Here's an installation of the Eames Lounge and Noguchi Table complete with the Herman Miller Canvas Office system, and a Lindsey Adelman Chandelier, at the product launch in Chicago earlier this year.

It seems obvious really that these chairs have new powercoat options, as we saw this trend move through the plumbing world over the last couple of years. These Aluminum Group chair are completely reinvented with their slick monochromatic look.

I added another item to my life list today: 76. Attend Modernism Week in Palm Springs.

I'm sure everyone has seen this, but it seems that Liberty of London is the latest brand to partner with Target. The line is expected to hit stores on March 14th. I was lucky enough to purchase some Liberty fabric earlier this year, and it is just so lovely. The hand of the fabric is so smooth, and I just love their patterns. So i hope this can translate to their Target line. And here's an extra link to whet your appetite, via making it lovely.

Again, my love for Scandinavian design is pushed another inch, by the launch of these AJ lamps in 5 new colours. I love the line of the shades, and these would be a fantastic investment, being steel these would last forever. And you could never fall out of love with one of these beauties. Make mine light blue please! Note: anyone know anything about converting a european lamp to work in North America? That is the only thing stopping me from pushing that purchase button right now. And to go with my earlier post of my love of classic British fashion, I just came across this site, via Wikstenmade. Oh yummy.

I found a great new design blog today: Kitka Design Toronto, and an amazing little shop to go with it. The blog writers actually own a shop in Toronto called Mjolk. (Remind me that next time I am in Toronto, I need to go and visit them and the rest of their neighbours at The Junction.) The shop specializes in classic and new Scandinavian designers, the kinda stuff I would just drool all over. They have a great variety of furniture pieces, lifestyle products, and accessories, all fully encapsulating the beautiful simplicity that Scandinavians are known for.
